I've been pushing a walk-behind for six years and finally pulled the trigger. HD delivered it to the driveway assembled and gassed. Started first turn, cut my full 1 acre in about 45 minutes at speed 4. Deck cut is clean, no clumps, no missed strips. Best money I've spent on the yard in a long time.

I looked at the Husqvarna YTH1942 the same day. Priced almost the same, both 42 inches. Pony felt more solid, StepThru frame won me over, and Troy-Bilt has a dealer 10 minutes from my house. Two months in — zero issues.

Thick, matted St. Augustine is hard on any mower. Pony handles it fine at 3 in with the blades sharp. Deck doesn't clog, engine holds RPM. Very impressed for a mid-price tractor.
Home Depot dropped it off already assembled, gas in the tank, oil topped off. Walked me through the shift pattern and I was on my yard in 15 minutes. Cut is even, deck is clean, ride is comfortable. Very happy.
Cut, power, comfort all great. Parking brake pedal is a little stiff at first — took maybe 5 hours to loosen up. Fine now. Would still buy again over the MTD I cross-shopped.

Belt needed a small tension adjustment after the first 8 hours — 10-minute fix per the manual. Since then no issues. Cold-weather starts have been perfect. Would buy again over the John Deere S100 I cross-shopped at the same price.
Almost 60 hours on it now. Oil change and blade sharpen every spring, that's it. Belt still looks new. For under $1,600 delivered this Pony has been a great buy.
