50-inch deck was the right call for me — 42-in was going to take too many passes and 54-in was more tractor than I needed. Kohler V-twin has plenty of power, hydro pedal is buttery, and the electric PTO is such an upgrade over the manual lever on my old MTD. Cuts my 2 acres in about 55 minutes.
Cut quality on tall fescue is beautiful — clean stripes, no clumps left behind, and clippings get thrown way clear of the deck. The three-blade fabricated deck is way better than the stamped decks I looked at in this price range. Deck wash port makes cleanup easy.
My back yard has a real slope and I was worried about a lawn tractor holding traction. Kohler V-twin doesn't blink going uphill and the K46 hydro is smooth in both directions. Disc brakes actually stop it firmly on the way down. Very happy with this purchase.
My old tractor's front axle developed play after 3 years. This one has the cast-iron front pivot bar and it feels like a completely different class of machine. 5-year frame and front-axle warranty is a big deal for me — I tow a cart and a spreader almost every weekend.
Only thing keeping this from 5 stars is that at $3k it really should have a fuel gauge and hour meter from the factory. Everything else is excellent — cut quality, comfort, power, and the electric PTO all live up to the price. Would still buy it again.
Dealer delivered it assembled, gassed, and serviced. Driver walked me through the controls and made sure the deck was level. Started first turn of the key and I've put 12 hours on it in the first month with zero issues. Choke-a-matic makes cold starts a non-event.
St. Augustine is brutal on mowers — thick, matted, wants to clump. The AeroForce deck and the 24 HP Kohler chew through it at 3.5 inches and never bog down. Turned around and did my Bermuda front lawn at 2 inches — same clean result. Very impressed.
15-inch high-back seat with the 10-degree incline is the difference maker. I used to have to stand up and stretch halfway through my old property with a 42-in tractor. With this LT50 I just cruise the whole 2.5 acres in one go. Cruise control on the long back stretch saves my right foot.
Traded in a Husqvarna YTH24V48 that was 8 years old and had a stamped deck. The fabricated deck on this Cub is noticeably heavier and the cut is noticeably better. Electric PTO is night and day compared to the pull-lever setup I had before.
Cut quality, power, and comfort are all top-notch. Only note is the parking brake is a little stiff for the first 10 hours or so, then it loosens up and works fine. Everything else about this tractor is exactly right at the price point.
Had a LTX1045 that gave me 11 seasons, then a XT1 LT46 that I gave to my son, and now this LT50 FAB for my current property. Cub Cadet just keeps building on what worked — same DNA, better deck, better lights, cast-iron pivot, and the lifetime deck-shell warranty. Sold.
I was going back and forth between this and a John Deere E140 that has a stamped deck. Lifetime limited fabricated deck-shell warranty on the Cub sealed it for me. Six months in — cut quality is outstanding and the deck still looks brand new even after clipping a few tree roots.
Deck belt needed a small tension adjustment after the first 8 hours — easy fix, took 10 minutes. Since then it has run flawlessly. Cold starts in 30° weather are no problem. Would definitely buy again over the Craftsman T3200 I cross-shopped.
My neighbor bought the Husqvarna the same weekend I bought this. Same 24 HP class, same 50-in deck. Side by side, my Cub has a heavier deck, electric PTO (his is manual), LED lights vs halogen, and the seat is genuinely more comfortable. Cut quality is very close — both good, mine slightly cleaner on wet grass.
First mow of the season, grass was 7 inches tall and still damp from an overnight rain. The 747cc Kohler V-twin didn't even change tone — just chewed through it and threw the clippings way clear of the deck. Really impressed with the AeroForce airflow.
I was worried about the carbureted Kohler at altitude but it starts and runs fine. Slight power drop compared to sea level but still cuts my property without issue. Only reason it's 4 stars — I wish Cub Cadet still offered EFI at this frame size.
