I priced the MT100 and the double bagger and mulching kit individually and the combo was about $150 cheaper. Shipped in one crate. The 6.5-bushel double bagger is a beast for fall leaves — I filled both bins in about 20 minutes of leaf pickup and the chute never clogged.

I looked at the S100 with the bagger + mulch kit and it was over $2,900 all-in. This Murray combo was under $1,800 and does the same three jobs. For a flat 1.5-acre yard I couldn't justify the extra $1,100 for the Deere name.
Everything works well but the bagger support bracket install is a two-person job for about 10 minutes. Once it's on, snapping the bins in and out is easy. Deducted a star for the initial fiddliness — otherwise this is 5 stars.
I bag in spring for the fresh growth, mulch through summer, and side-discharge in fall around the leaves. Combo lets me do all three off one tractor. Blade swap takes 15 minutes with the deck lifted. Very flexible setup.
The Pony combo was $200 more and honestly the MT100 cuts just as clean. Double bagger on this one is 6.5 bu vs the Troy-Bilt's smaller bin. For me the bagger capacity was the tiebreaker.
Under $1,800 for a 500cc Briggs tractor + double bagger + mulching kit is genuinely hard to beat. Home Depot delivered assembled, first mow was 45 minutes later. Very happy with the whole package.
Ran the mulching setup all summer. By August my grass looked thicker and greener than the last three summers of bagging + fertilizing. Clippings really do feed the lawn if the blades are sharp and you don't cut more than a third off.
Only real gripe — you have to look back and check the bins to see if they're full. A full-bag indicator would be nice at this price. Otherwise the tractor and mulch kit are both great and the combo price is the right move.
Truck arrived at 9am. Tractor assembled and gassed, both accessory boxes strapped to the pallet. Bagger installed by lunch, mulching kit stayed in the box for later. Zero complaints on delivery or product.
Almost 40 hours on the tractor, ~15 hours with the bagger, full summer of mulching. Nothing has failed. Blades sharpened at 25 hours, oil changed, that's it. Combo has paid for itself vs paying a lawn service.
St. Augustine is thick and normally has to be bagged. Mulching blades + deck insert handle it fine at 3.5 in — no wet clumps left behind. Big win, since bagging St. Augustine is a workout.
Perfect setup for a flat to gently rolling yard up to 2 acres. Wouldn't try to bag on a real slope with this — nothing to do with the tractor, just physics of a rear bagger on a hill. On flat ground it's excellent.
